Can a Follow Focus Rig Be Used as a "Follow Zoom" on Lumix 35-100?

Like the title says, can a regular follow focus be wrapped around the zoom grips of the Panasonic Lumix 35-100 lens to zoom? I regularly shoot figure skaters and need zoom and low light lens abilities together.

Absolutely. That is how I have my 12-35 and 35-100 setup. I can control the zoom with my left hand with a mechanical follow focus (Edelkrone Focus +) and the focus/iris with my right hand with a Varizoom VZStealth PZFI controller like this one. attached to the hand grip. I don't have to touch the lens at all.
