Cameron is a stud

I love hearing him say that! Of course, I lost my interest with Aliens 3. But then we can't blame anything that came after Aliens on him anyway.

This is so true. And Cameron has the absolute right to say that, cause they screw up the legacy too.

These AVP $hits should be banned and their makers should be skinned alive or, at least, cocooned to death :).

Funny, because when he did this interview for AICN he talked about how much he liked it!

JAMES CAMERON: Then I saw ALIEN VS PREDATOR and it was actually pretty good. (laughs) I think of the 5 ALIEN films, I'd rate it 3rd.
QUINT: Ummm...
JAMES CAMERON: I actually liked it. I actually liked it a lot.

Strange...

I see a character inconsistency in this, an internal conflict. His spiritual [aesthetic] pursuits clash with his material [financial] ones...

Drama is conflict, sure... but..

Hmm...

I just don't see how anyone could like a piece of garbage like AVP "a lot". Maybe as a guilty pleasure, but saying he liked it "a lot" just mystifies me. Like when Frank Darabont looked at the script for The Phantom Menace and told George "don't change a word."

I think what he meant was, "Don't change a word. Except for all the dialogue, of course."

Maybe he meant "Don't change a word...BURN IT!!!"...One could only dream what a Darabont scripted Star Wars would have been. What's even more ironic is that Darabont is now pissed at Lucas because he trashed Darabont's Indy 4 script, as if George is some authority on quality writing.

as if George is some authority on quality writing.

I think somewhere along the lines, his memory faded, and he forgot that he DIDN'T write the screenplays to Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi (well, he sort of co-wrote Jedi, but I'd like to think his contribution was the ewok dialogue, and not much else), or direct them for that matter, yet they're (in my humble opinion) the two best films of the series.

I love Cameron's work, but sometimes he sounds/acts like such a tool/douche. There are so many conflicting comments about Alien movies from his mouth. He is also supposed to be a huge a$$hole, be sure to look up Orson Scott Card's views of him.

I find the Alien3 director's cut does not get the credit/respect it should.

I googled but didn;t find much on his reviews of his films; say what you will about Cameron being demanding, his films kick ass.

There is a big difference between demanding and an asshole and demanding and being a great guy to work with.

PS - True Lies did not kick ass.

I'd like to hear what Sad Max has to say about Cameron after working on one of his productions.

I don't know Jim myself of course so I can't really say and I suppose where there is smoke there is fire. I did see some BTS on the ALIENS disc and he is definately being condesending towards a grip in it; it's pretty funny.

True Lies was a totally FUN movie for Popcorn purposes but to deny The Abyss, The Terminator 1 or 2, Titanic or Aliens doesn't kick ass is something to discuss

(Yes, people either love or hate Titanic but one cannot deny it's accolades and box office records)

Yeah, I've heard first hand he's a colossal A-hole on set. I don't care. He's a great filmmaker. Not always great, but a great filmmaker.
