Cameron calls fan an a-hole

the whole thing seems staged to get some video of cameron turning the guy down for an autograph.

Agreed.

"hey let's EITHER get an autograph that we can sell... OR get footage... that we can sell"

THAT guy is the a@@hole.

Anybody... ANYBODY who is a REAL fan (meaning they have real appreciation for what they experienced, instead of selfish motivations to get a PIECE of it)... does NOT make themselves a burden on that person. Demanding an autograph isn't about the celebrity... it's about their own need for personal validation.

Guys like that are the same ones who abuse their women because they love them... but let's face it, they're little children in adult bodies.

In cities like NY, Paris, London and especially LA, the paparazzi are insane predators and should be treated like the animals they are. I don't miss that aspect of trying to work in Los Angeles.

I have only seen a major celebrity deny an autograph on one occassion when they should have kindly given it. Two young teenage girls stumbled into the practical location set where the actor was between scenes - doing literally nothing. He flatly and coldly told them he wouldn't sign whatever it was they scrounged together at that moment and sent them on their way. It would have taken him a moment to engage them and given them an experience they would've coveted for years after.

I witnessed this years ago, but the words "monumental douchebag" still come to mind anytime I see his name in primetime or hear someone drooling over him.

This reminds of a certain time I ran into a certain famous british band at the airport.

A few of the band members all signed autographs and took pictures, while the lead singer made it a point to stand far away and alone.

Being naive, I didn't heed this gesture and asked for a picture. Oddly enough he was okay with it, it was only later I found out what a diva he was to people in general. Luck was on my side that day.

I have been in LA alot over the last 6 months, I have not witnessed an autograph signing in a long time, now everyone asks for a picture with thier camera phone, I have yet to see a celeb turn down a photo request. They know it's good PR for them because it's more than likely going on someones facebook or myspace page where word of mouth travels very fast.

I witnessed one guy at Shutters approach Melanie Griffith, Antonio Banderas and Don Johnson (yes, all three were eating together) and got pics, then onto George Clooney at another table, Seth Rogan at another table then onto Simon Cowell, all of them said yes and this was durning brunch on a Sunday while they were seated. You'd think the guy could have waited at the front door to ask when they were leaving but they all were nice about it.

yes, that the fact, when you earn so much money, your only job is not to call an A**H.. anyone, whatever the reason would be.
and if you don't like this, just become a lawyer....

So when you become wealthy thats really your only job?
Sweet.

Autographs don't prove you saw him/her, it proves they signed something, I can buy them all day long on eBay and never saw them.

I disagree. First of all, rich and famous are not the same. Jon Gosselin is famous, so is Charles Manson. I know lots of rich people that couldn't give their autograph away (except on a check). Nobody hounds them at restaurants for a photo op.

Just because I become famous as a by-product of doing what I love, that doesn't give anyone the right to be rude to me. I would say that most celebrities take this crap on as part of their job. They get that fame is a double edged sword. With great tables at trendy bistros comes drooling fans looking for a memento. But if I am famous, and I politely decline to autograph something, or take a picture, I would expect you to accept that. If you don't, and get in my face, I would treat you the same way I would if I weren't famous.

Rude person, meet pavement. Pavement, meet rude person.

Just like we (the common folk) would not accept they "Hey, I'm famous" excuse for their bad behavior, we should not accept the "Hey, they're famous" excuse to treat them as anything less than human beings.

You know, it's funny; you'll often hear the blanket excuse of they're "just" doing "their jobs."

Well, their jobs suck, and they didn't have to take them. In my less agreeable moments, I've suggested this to pushy telemarketers.
