so ive been wanting to make a zip line rig for my camera to film some bmx stuff and i would like the rig where the camera mounts to be remote control so i can move angle and such but i cant find anything any where it doesnt even have to be remote control i would like to know or see pictures of a rig so i can make my plans off that, any help would be great plz help

garrett brown, the original steadicam inventor, has rigged some of these in the past. look up his website... he may be willing to give you some pointers. Problem is controlling the "fall" / "zip" of your camera... If you wanna get serious... then maybe two towers with a zipline and motors to steadily pull your camera...

Here's the SkyCam by Garrett Brown

awsome man thanks a bunch and i agree lol if i go threw with this which i will there will be a bunch of test and the test will be low to the ground and then ill go from there i have a feelin it will take a bunch of tweakin and trial and error

Check out the "DIY" section of the forum for various people's Cablecam projects too.

jstunzi; that's FlyCam ... SkyCam is the 3D version you see at Football Games, etc.. :)

As much as your camera may be at risk, far more important is people safty. Make sure your camera won't (can't) drop onto people! Etc...

haha casue it will be above and iin front of a bmxer on a set of jumps so ill def make sure it wont fall for both human and camera safty

You better get paid really well for this!
Another option would be an RC copter... won't get the same cam. quality... but ya never know!

that things is cool i dont know though im wondering how smooth and straight it can fly , as of now im still gonna do the cable cam but ill keep that in mind for future shoots thanks man

My thing with your cable cam... how do you aim it? The SkyCam has a mechanism built in... what are you gunna do... it probably has to be wireless as well.

agreed on the copter solution!

i found this thread and i like the frame take all the remote control stuff off for now and just us the frame so im goin to copy this basic frame and then decide what im goin to do for remote control it moves angles by hand notice the wing nuts on the side of the black piece where the camera is mounted http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=109544
