Camera Won't Turn Off/Switch To Playback Mode

Hey Gang,

I've been awfully busy for the last month and haven't had a chance to use my camera in at least four weeks. When I pulled it out today, I noticed that the camera turned on immediately the second I put the battery on (even though it was technically 'off'). When I flipped the switch to turn it on/off, nothing happens. The only way to turn off the camera is to take off the battery.

Upon turning on, the camera starts recording immediately, for about two seconds and then the P2 Full indicator flashes. When I hit the Mode button, to switch over to playback mode, it won't do a thing. I've tried numerous combinations of buttons, batteries, etc - and nothing seems to work.

I pressed the reset button, both with and without a battery attached and I still have the same problem.

Apart from that, everything else on the camera seems to be working just fine (aperture, focus, scene files, menu, etc...)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Best,
Matt

This is a fairly common issue with the camera that causes this to happen. There are a number of flat cables internally that need to be replaced to repair this. You'll have to send it in for repair. Send to Panasonic or we do it at AbelCineTech.

I have just the same problem here! My hvx200 Pal from 2006 has had this time to time this fall. It seems to show up together with Firestore connected, so I have figured out this has something to do with Firestore, not these flat cagles.

Really, this should repaired by factory order, but nothing happend here, just like the bad battery grip fault: Importer Panasonic Finland simply ignores this and let users pay....

any news about this fix ?
any stable solution ?

i have the same problem on a hvx200e pal.
i would like to get rid of instability problems that's why i went tapeless after all..

thanks to any helpers
