Camera Turns off during shooting!

Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just my DVX100a? When I'm shooting continuously (on a full battery), the camera will just shut off. the screen goes black, and I have to turn the switch off, turn it back on, and press record to continue shooting. This is not good, as I shoot documentaries and have to shoot continuously sometimes for a half an hour. It cuts out at really important times!!

One more question...what is the best (shotgun and lavalier) mic for a DVX100a?

Thanks!

No...That's not a menu setting. The DVX's "auto off power save" feature only activates when the camera is in pause/standby mode. Hopefully Barry G chimes in soon, as I don't know what to say on this one.

Never saw that one, but I'd vote along the same route as Alex, I'd suspect the battery or the connection to the camera from the battery.

You have something wrong with your camera. You should have it looked at. There is no reason why it would turn off while it is recording unless it has some interruption in power. You do not say whether it happens while workin in AC as well, but I would suspect it to be either the battery or the camera. If you can get the camera to do the same thing under AC power it is the camera. Try this before you call the service center.

Good luck,

Thanks, I have a warranty so I'll contact them and see what they can do.
