Camera to use as a VTR (deck)

I have one of the very first wave of DVX100 cameras and I have tried to view some of my footage I shot on that camera on a 400 dollar Panasonic mini-dv camera, but the audio would go in and out. Is there a cheap camera I can use as a VTR instead of forking over the big bucks for an expensive deck?
Thanks

Any cheap MiniDV cam should work. Sounds like the issue in this case might be the current cheap camera and not the method.

No the camera is cheaper than my dvx but it is a 3ccd panasonic camera. Does anyone have any model suggestions to use as a vtr for footage shot on the first wave DVX100 cameras?

any mini dv cam will do. yours however, sounds like it may have a problem. try shooting with the $400 camera then playback and see if the same problem occurs. also, try previewing your footage in your dvx and see if you get any audio drop outs. you need to find out if it is the tape or the $400 camera that is the problem.

It works both ways. The footage shot on the cheaper camera will not play with out the audio going in and out on the DVX and vice versa.

Check if itu's the DVX or the "capture *****" that causes the problem. Use the DVX to import this tape and find out if there is still the audio problem...then you have a problem because the audio parts of your DVX are damaged. Also try shooting with the cheap camera and import through the cheap...
I used several cheap cams as "CB's" Sonys, Panas, JVC even Samsung if there was nothing else around and I can say that you can use every MiniDV cam for capturing. You won't loose any quality or stuff. Just try to find out where your problem is and pray that it's not the lovely DVX.

let me see if I have this straight.

#1: you shoot with the cheap cam, and playback in the DVX and the audio cuts in and out.

#2: you shoot with the DVX and playback in the cheap cam and the audio cuts in and out.

this is what you just explained, right? If so, I would say you need to clean your heads. And I mean a real head cleaning, not the hard type (cleaning tape). If that does not solve your problem...........
