Camera storage

How are people storing their cameras when not in use for weeks or months?

I have a Sony Fs5 that is worth keeping around for the occasional times I need a third camera (or a second dedicated video camera). But those times are few and far between. If I'm storing it for long term, what's the best way to do so? Battery, no battery? Or should I schedule powering it on every so often, regardless of whether I'm using it?

Stick it in a dry, warm and not damp place. Charge the batteries, take them off the camera. If you remember, check the batteries every few months, but I powered one up last after 3 years, battery totally flat. It took a charge and appears fine - camera dusty but 100%

I have a walk in closet in my office that I put shelving units in over 20 years ago, and that's where most of my cameras live. No batteries on them, as even when off, most modern cameras and accessories will continue to draw small amounts of power and completely kill(damage and drain beyond rejuvenation) batteries.
