Looking for any experience, recommendations for a camera slider for our FS 700 camera?
Using mainly wa nikon zooms. 36" move seems to be an all around good length.
On medium weight tripod or self supporting.
There are so many and range in cost from 100 to 1000.
Portability might be important but quality is most important recommedation.
thanks,
Jeff

I would look at a solid 3ft/1m slider that mounts onto one tripod. I would also avoid dryline type sliders. I'm happy with my slidekamera.com when used with Canon 5D and Sony EX3 and a Cinevate Atlas 30 for my F3. But there are many good sliders on the market. Easy of use and a high percentage of perfect slides is what matters.

I would highly recommend a Drylin slider... I've been using mine for over 5 years now and it just keeps getting better with time. Drylin requires NO lubrication, is very quiet and there's no moving parts to worry about. A quick wipe-down of the rail with some furniture polish is really the only thing you have to do every now & again. A 1000mm slider is easy to move around (even on the tripod) and requires only a single tripod...although I always sandbag the spreader just for safety. I also carry around a 700mm length of rail which is useful for really tight spots and especially easy to move around on the tripod. You don't have to spend a fortune to get the movement you're looking for.

Although I love the Dana Dolly, it really is a dolly, not a slider...they both have their purpose....the right tool for the job.

I have a couple of sliders as well as doorway dolly & mini skater dolly, and the great thing about the Dana Dolly is the amount of weight it can support compared to the sliders. I also carry assorted lengths of speed rail, so I can go from a 3 foot unit to a 10 foot unit or longer very easily. Plus you can setup to go through windows or a car for example. Using a slider on a single center mounted tripod, I really have to strip down the camera, and not use one of my nicer heads because of weight issues. When using a slider with a heavier built camera rig and a nice 100mm head on a riser, you really need to support both sides of the slider for stability.

I just picked up a Varavon Slidecam lite, and while I wouldn't trust it with an FS700, it's incredible for the money. Roller bearing 32" slider for 200 bones. Can't really go wrong. I'd recommend either the slidecam EX Plus, or the Slidecam ENG Plus. Both are fantastic sliders for the money.

Never go wrong with Kessler, Dana looks cool, never tried it before.
iFootage just announced their Shark Slider S1, worth to check it out.

That slider actually looks pretty great. I'm interested to see how well it handles an FS700, especially with the extension rods. Bummer that the shipping to the US is $107... seems awfully steep to me. The slider is relatively cheap to begin with, I suppose.
