Camera setting for shooting sports program. Pls advice

I gonna be using my Z1 to shoot a sports program & i'm wondering what are the best camera setting to use waht shooting fast moving objects

1. shutter speed- would shooting at a higher shutter speed like 125 or 250 help to capture a sharper image

2. progressive or interlace? I'm woondering if cineframe will help if i wanna slow mo some shoots in post?

I shot lots of NASCAR Craftsman Series footage on the Z1U. You won't want cineframe mode. Use interlaced at 1/60 for the smoothest footage.
