Camera resets each time it shuts off/restarts

I've had the DVX-100A for a couple months now. I have no idea how to use it beyond playing with dials until things look right. However, I seem to have a problem that was confirmed when a more experienced filmmaker borrowed it...

Each time the camera shuts off, either manually or automatically after a couple minutes without recording, and I turn it back on again, I need to re-white balance, as well as reset all other settings.

Is there possibly an internal battery issue? Is there something I need to set up to keep this from happening?
 
You have to save your scene files and user file. Whenever the camera powers off, the next time you power it up it restores all the scene files and user file from memory. So if you've got settings you like, you'll have to save them, and from that time forward they'll be permanent (until you change 'em, unless you save 'em again.)
