Anyone have any good recomendations of where to get an HVX repaired at, in the Los Angeles Area?

The piece of plastic that holds the battery up on the back broke off, so it would be a basic casing fix, nothing to do with the internals of the camera.
 
That's a warranty job of a known design flaw -- the tabs can break off easily.

Call Abel in Burbank..they should be able to tell you the place in Santa Monica that does all of Panasonics warranty work on the HVX. Apparently panasonic stopped working on those in house.
 
I'm assuming this is the place to take my HVX to get cleaned? Seems I got some dirt under the zoom and focus rings, and it's making a little grinding noise.

Anyone have a guess as to how much this will cost, and how long I'll have to be without the camera?
 
Well, I got my answer about getting it cleaned. 2 weeks out and $260 minimum. Both of those sting a little bit, but especially the 2 weeks...that's a lot of down time unless I rent.

Is there another place in LA that someone could recommend, or does it have to be the Panny Service Center because of warranty issues?
 
Also, how critical is it that I get the camera cleaned and fixed? If I had to guess, I'd say there's just a few particles of dirt. They just seem to be causing a little noise, and it's not causing any problems with either the zoom or focus at this time. Obviously I want to get it taken care of, but if I can wait until I have some down time, I'd prefer that.

So, is it okay to use for now?
