Camera options for slow-motion

Blackmagic Ursa does 120fps at 4k RAW with global shutter - that takes some beating at the price - if you don't need to carry it far and have enough light.

As I understand it - it should-probably-maybe have global shutter, someday. BM is still fighting to make it work. Google the NX1 vs. Ursa tests though - kind of startling.

If the Micro cinema cam gets global, I'm in - we all have all the stuff to rig and monitor that thing (yeah, hopefully the pocket speedbooster fits it) - but prores/raw with GS at near-super-35 sensor (with the Speebooster)? First tests show a really nice image, and it does 60p@1080. Global on top of that, and I'll be one happy mofo.

No I was talking about the original full-size Ursa 4k. The v2 sensor does 120fps at 4k with global shutter. The Minis will only do 60fps at 4k and were slated to have global shutter only up to 30fps in 4k.

I use 50/60p extensively on my C100 mkii's. I probably over use it because it looks so good.

Nothing wrong with the FS5 or FS7 either. Better frame rates and both are better value for money...as long as you are OK with Sony colours (I wasn't) or have the time in post to fix them (I don't).

How long does it take to add a LUT to your footage in post? 1 maybe 2 seconds? What do you mean Sony colours? I shoot SLog3 with SGamut3.cine and add a LUT and grade, the image couldn't look less like a Sony Broadcast camera.

I shoot 4K/HD at 50p so I've got an option to go half speed from any footage. I use S&Q for HFR and with the new 2K crop mode on the FS7 gives excellent alias free images. I am also making use of the Interval Recording to shoot 4K time lapses so I'm adding a lot of different speeds of footage into project from the one camera.

How about the a6300, excepy for the horrible rolling shooter it'a a great alternative, I'm seriously considering it for product and tabletop productions.

BTW this is my first post, great stuff over here in thi forum.

Cheers

It's funny looking back at this thread and seeing all the suggestions of "Wait until NAB, there'll be something better there!"

I guess it shows just how aggressive Sony were with the features and pricing of the FS7 & FS5, given that there's nothing to compete with them on those fronts yet. Canon still has the out-of-the-box image quality, and at first glance RED's Raven came close to the FS7 pricing until costly accessories quickly pushed it into a much higher price bracket, but there's really nothing else yet in the under $10,000 price bracket that ticks as many boxes as Sony's offerings.
