Like a number of other people, I vaguely painted myself into a corner by committing to doing some filming before an HVX-200 was actually in my possession. Silly, but life is silly sometimes; I figured at absolute worst I'd rent for the one-time-only interview I had to do at the end of this month.
Somewhere in the middle of reading this forum trying to get a grip on possible other places selling the HVX200, someone mentioned Omega Broadcast Group ( http://www.omegaaustin.com http://www.omegaaustin.com) as a potential place. Along with EVS, and a local store called CameraCo, I had gotten on three lists (with no money down on any of them), and yesterday Omega was the first to contact me and tell me they had a camera ready. I had it fedexed, and it arrives tomorrow. Hurrah!
I don't know who to thank who first gave me the idea to call, but thank you, out there. I will now have about a week to get familiar with the equipment and get myself in shape for what will be a good year of interviews, travel and work for my documentary (on text adventures: http://www.getlamp.com ).
As a result of this, I will likely fade back into the shadows and occasionally read up on things. If I can assist someone, I will, but mostly I'll just document the work I'm doing and make sure it's freely available and searchable.
Before I disappear, I did want to say that there are an enormous amount of supportive, informative folks on this forum who have been huge help to both myself and many others. There have also been people (a small amount) whose behavior makes me wish I could call myself something that wasn't the same as what they call themselves, just so I could not be tainted by the same brush. Names would be beside the point.
Again, thanks for taking a huge stress out of my life, and I'll be back occasionally.
