i've been reading around a lot here on wireless lavalier mics. i've noticed that some have camera-mountable receivers and others don't. it seems as though a non camera-mountable means another thing i have to worry about with wires getting unplugged, frayed, etc. or can i carry the receiver pack on my body ?? and what if i'm shooting at night ? i have the Litepanels light already mounted on the camera. how do i solve that problem ?
i may have already answered my question. i own an HVX200.

Which receivers are you looking at that don't have an option?

On the lower end (read: the only budget-minded systems worth considering), Sennheiser's G2/G3 receivers are camera-mountable, and also have belt clips. If Audio Technica's 1800-series is anything like their older (discontinued) U-100 series, they may not have a shoe-mount system since the receiver is a bit larger, but they used to provide a canvas pouch with a belt-clip.

For any of the larger receivers (Audio Tecnica 1800, and then moving on the Lectro and Zaxcom), you can buy receiver brackets for your camera. If you have a rail system for your HVX, with shoulder pad, your options increase.

all the ones with that big flat receiver; Shure, Samson, etc. i want to be totally mobile.

The products with the book-size metal box receivers are impractical to use camera-mounted or even belt-hung. They may be practical if you have a sound person with an equipment cart.

Even without the size problem, powering them would be a problem because they usually don't have provision for battery power and you would have to kludge some external battery pack, making them even more clumsy to use on the run.

i've been looking at the lower end models, pro 88w, wms pro and a sony. waiting to find a good lavalier after christmas.

Sennheiser g2 or g3 is the least expensive wireless gear that anyone around here will recommend for production sound.
