Camera Mileage

Re: Camera Mileage

I've got 39. It seems like just a baby compared to everyone elses's, bought it in January.

Re: Camera Mileage

25 hours on the camera after 9 months or so and it already has to go in for head cleaning (or perhaps repair) :-[

Re: Camera Mileage

Man, I havn't even had to use the cleaning tape yet. Or should I have used it by now wheather it needs it or not?

Re: Camera Mileage

The cleaning tape is said to cause some head wear. Don't use it unless you need it. You'll know if you do.

Re: Camera Mileage

That's what I figured. I had a dropout once, when there was about 5hrs on the camera, but everyone said that it is not uncomon to have dropouts when the camera is brand new. Since that one dropout I have been free and clear, gone through about 20Mq tapes.

Re: Camera Mileage

I just put another 8 hours on it sunday finishing up the music video shots. Lately I seem to be losing stuff too, I bought 2 filters and lost my expo-disk. I lost my tri-pod. And one of my 3 hour batteries. It seems clean up is always such a rush whenever I shoot lately I misplace things. I think my expo disk went with the rented DVX"A", I think my tri-pod went with the rented Arri light kit and the battery is MIA.

Re: Camera Mileage

heh, I just got a message about my battery. It was on the camera of the media place I shoot for. :)
The tri-pod thing I just cant get over. The expo disk is small and I always have it in a pocket when shooting so that could have fallen out anywhere.

Re: Camera Mileage

Yea, im at 35 hours and my second DVX (oh the funny story on how I got another- but they are very nice at Panasonic Canada!). My first DVX had 76 hours.
And im rather disappointed by the DVx's hour meter. I had recently believed that the hour meter operates on how long the actual video heads are in use (recording), but recently discovered its actually timing how long the unit is turned on for. Oh well, this camera apparently has amazing life anyway.

Long live the DVX!
