FS7: Camera light that would automatically turn on and of when you're (not) recording?

Hi everyone!
Camera light that would automatically turn on and of when you're (not) recording.
So, is it possible? Any idea of solutions?

Not that I'm aware of. And I think you could reasonably expect to pay $500+ for a quality color temp adjustable on camera light. The Sony light communicates with the camera via the MI shoe and to the best of my knowledge that is Sony proprietary.

A cheaper alternative would be a light that you switched on manually whenever you needed it. Are you sure that it would actually be useful to have to be rolling before you could find your exposure and framing etc? -jason

Be wary of cheap LED panels. Some are good, but you can run into unanticipated issues in terms of color temp, CRI, and even flickering (when dimming, shooting high speed, and such).

Yeah, I'm aware of that. I'm reading specs of this Sony light and it actually looks like a pretty good deal for it's output and with that built in diffuser. Form factor could be a little bit less tall though.

Specs are good on the Sony light. But there are now a ton of new lights with advanced LED and remote phosphor technologies. I am working with the Cineo Matchbook, which is remote phosphor and delivers a real punch for a small on camera light. With remote phosphor, you need to change front panel for each color temp. I have been impressed with the Fiilex "dense LED" technology. Just some really good, new choices out there.

Not trying to be an @$$hole, but why in God's name would you want to do that?! Anton Bauer has had that "feature" on most of their camera battery plates for as long as I can remember. And I, and most every other professional I know, have HATED it. I don't know if anyone is building cameras that recognize this "feature" anymore(you had to turn it on in the menu and flip the physical switch on the plate). I've been screwed by this "feature" many times when the switch on the bottom of the plate has inadvertently gotten switched on, which kills power to the power tap for normal use. I've actually had friends special order batt plates from A/B with the switch/"feature" removed.

Because I do a lot of live events recently were there is very little light. I want to sneak out some natural shots (and be fast!) without walking around with turned on light to scare people off. I will used it on minimal output just to light up faces and eye sockets a little. I do not like unnatural look.
