This isn't specific to af100, but that's the camera I have. I can't remove monopod from the threaded mounting hole ]on the bottom of the camera. Either the mount or the camera thread is free moving.

It is most likely the Monopod head, the base of the AF are just threaded holes, even if stripped the screw thread would come out.

If the MP has a part that is just spinning it is probably stripped or there is a set screw that is loose. Post a photo and maybe we can help you better. More info more help.

picture is up for what it's worth. doesn't show much.

OK so the whole part just spinns?

Is there a set screw (a small allen head or similar), or a pin anywhere on the round part? There may be a stripped/broken pin or screw. See if you can fix it.

If all else fails I would drill a hole 1/8" straight through the middle close to the base and put a metal rod about an 1/8" round in the whole. This will in effect now become a pin. You should then be able to turn the round part right out of the base of the AF.

I agree with Olof but its a difficult place to get a drill into.

I would consider using a Dremmel tool with a cutting blade instead of a hacksaw to carefully get to the stud in the centre.

I would think that the stud is rotating in the attachment and the end in the camera is fixed .

I had the exact same thing happen with what looks like the same cheap monopod. I got mine at Wal Mart and it got stuck the first time I put it on. Which was before a 3 day festival shoot. I left it on for 5 months before I got the nerve to drill it out. When I did drill it the cheap plastic cracked almost as soon as I put the drill to it. A steady hand, slow drilling and some prayers.

It also seems to me that we should put a warning out that these cheap monopod can break and spin freely. I fell in love with the idea of the monopod and used it on almost every shoot with my DVX then my HVX. This made my DSLR transition very painless.
