camera freezing with photos and video reports of green screen too

Hey

I just sold my G13 on ebay and it was working totally fine when it left my hands. I was using moderate 35mb settings with 24pn and everything worked! recording and playback! It was a Japanese model too so it had the language menu hack as well. The ebay buyer contacted me and is totally pissed and wants a refund because he claims its freezing up when he is playing back photos and video, I think he said it gave him a green screen once when it froze. He says he's tried all different kinds of cards and lenses and nothing works properly.

I don't recall what lens firmware was in the camera but I never did any updating with that because I used PL and Nikon lenses. If the lens firmware is outa whack could that cause the problems he's having??? I just don't get it because it was working so flawlessly when I used it like a week prior to selling it and now this guy claims it doesn't and says he owns two other hacked GH1's so he knows what they should and shouldn't do.
 
Hmmm....that was the one I was going to buy, and totally spaced the auction and missed it. And, when I saw the ending price, I was even more pissed.
I'm just not getting why he is having such a problem with it. Especially if he already owns two other hacked GH1's. Is he trying to use a newer panny lens on it??
If you end up doing a return, PM me, and we'll see where I'm at as far as buying one. But, from your description, and the hack you used, he should be able to playback in the camera.

Ask him if he can play back the video's on his computer, and if they are reporting the correct bit rate, for the hack??
Also, which memory cards where you using, that he's not???
Something strange here.
I see that he has 189 feedback(I'm assuming 100%).
FYI, if I had bought it, I probably would have used some older Nikon lenses on it first, since I don't own any panny's yet.

OH.....what version of P-tools is he using, and what version was your hack created on??? Might be that the newer version of P-tools is screwing with things?? That, or something with the lens firmware is all I can come up with.
Just grasping at straws here.
 
hey thanks, I had all those same thoughts too. It's a bummer because I feel like I'll be able to get it working fine when he sends it back. If I have to reinstall my hack settings then well that's fine.

Just makes you wonder; exactly what did he do when he first got the camera???
There are so many variable here, that without him further explaining that, you can't really help him.
