Camera crapped out. What's going on??

I was filming today and the camera just shut off. I quickly changed to a spare battery and then the A/C power, but they both did the strangest thing. The camera will power on, but no display information shows, even after pushing the display button. The camera will not record or do anything other than power on. It won't even power off. You have to remove the power supply for that. Every time it's turned on it's also fully zoomed out. I tried the reset button, but it didn't do anything to fix the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Were you shooting outside in the heat? If so, try turning it on when it is cool.

But it does sound like it is hosed. Bad memory or the like.

I don't know which camera you have, but many modern cameras have an internal battery for date and timecode and if that goes, then the camera will do some weird stuff. Read your manual to see if that might be the case. I know the Canon C100 can do this if you leave it unpowered for a few months.

Battery or power supply issues, possibly(?). I've had my VariCam's act weird if the voltage dropped too low while on a power supply(lose VF display info, etc.).
