camera bag for HMC150...

I second the Petrol bag. I use the PCCB-2N for both my cameras (HMC-150 and Canon XH-A1) and they work great. I also have a PCCB-1N that I have had for about 5 years and it's still going strong. Very well made bags. I tried a Porta-Brace once, dont remember which model, but I did not really like it. It seemed well constructed and durable, but it had a couple of things I did not care for. The suede on the shoulder and hand straps kept flaking off and for some reason the bag was all dusty inside. It was a new bag from B&H and little canned air fixed the problem but still at that price (about $200) I expected a little more. The other thing that I noticed about the Porta-Brace vs. the Petrol, is Petrol puts little feet on their bags that elevate it off the ground. Keeps dirt and moisture from damaging the bottom of the bag or possibly soaking through to your camera. The Porta-Brace I had just sat flat on the ground, nothing to elevate it or protect the bottom of the bag. Just my two cents.

I will say this about my Porta Brace purchases...I have a few bags and some other accessories from them, as well as some Kata bags and Pelican cases. The Porta Brace bags will really stand up to a ton of beating, and the feet on the bottom of most of their cases are absent simply to make it easier to slide in and out of a vehicle and to increase friction during travel. Instead of four small contact feet, the entire underside is usually weatherproofed and allows the entire surface to provide contact, increasing friction and reducing the liklihood of load shifting during travel. Having not used or seen every Porta Brace bag out there, I'm sure some of them might not be so fully weatherproofed on the bottom (and I wouldn't buy it, either!).

That being said, I ordered a DVOR-2 a couple of years ago and the camcorder cradle was completely missing when it arrived (ordered from B&H). I contacted B&H, they provided a number at Porta Brace and I was sent a new kit - along with some nice extras to make it up to me - and it all arrived the next business day. Certainly an expensive mistake for them, but after that bit of error they have never failed me since.

I hate customer service that tries to "make it right" instead of "getting it right" the first time, but both B&H and Porta Brace were very quick to act on it, and made it clear that this was an exception not the norm. Many more Porta Brace products later, this has proven to be true.

Just thought I'd add my own personal story :)

As for the suede flaking, that does happen right after you get them, but after a couple of uses it's "broken in" and those shoulder straps are probably the most durable and most comfortable straps you'll ever get. That's why they sell so many shoulder straps standalone, for people who prefer a different bag/case and still want the nice shoulder strap, too.

If you have a problem with it, though, I would definitely recommend contacting Porta Brace. They will definitely listen to any compaint or constructive criticism you have to offer. Most of their products are designed as direct responses to customer requests from folks like you and me.
