Camera auto shuts off!!!

When I keep the camera on long with the tape in, as I adjust color, knee, gamma, masterped, etc and play around with it from set up to set up, often times the camera shuts off before I'm done or before I remember to save the file. Then I have to do this over. It's a pain in the :o especially with the annoying menu buttons. Why can't they be like dials on the side? They should make it a feature in the dvx200 HD.

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

You can turn that function off. Than it wouldn't be annoying anymore!

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

:-/ Serious. I'd say "HOW?" but I'm not a twerp. I do have two eyes and can read english. I won't be lazy, I think I just over looked it in the manual. But be forewarned, should I have problems... I'll be back.

Thanks TC.

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

I'll save ya the trouble.

Menu> Other Functions> Tape Protect> STBY

Your welcome.

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

Cheers mate. Now about getting knobs to change the file settings on these cameras... would superglue and my contrast knob off my old toshiba work?

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

Whoa wait, I'm confused as to what your asking. Could you rephrase that?

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

HAHA, hope I didn't alarm you. ;D I was just kidding. It was my attempt at subtle humor- my way of venting my frustrations of having to go to menu, file settings, gamma...etc to do color tests and such. They should be external knobs that you just crank like the 2 audio channel monitor knobs.

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

Wouldn't that make more sense. Especially in a professional camera if these things need to be easily accessed for every different lighting setup.

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

After you do it for long enough it becomes second nature. Too many buttons = really easy to accidentally change = continuity issues.

I thought you were joking, but I wasn't sure. Everytime someone mentions super glue when talking about they're DVX I always hope that they are joking. :P

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

You know, I'm used to film cams and those things are a lot less tricky. It's like a car, each moving part you can see and understand what it's doing. My mind has yet to divulge into modernity and comprehend abstract thinking and the theory of virtual space...

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

I see what you mean, especially in the confined space of a small body... that makes sense.

Super glue is always funny! I once accidently super glued my fingers to my ear lobe.

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

HAHAHAH. I'll bet there's a great story behind that.

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

No, not really.  I opened a new tube of superglue to fix the handle of the drawer and some must have gotten on my fingers.  Between scratching my ear and reading the box it just got stuck.  I got so scared because I thought my flesh would tear.  I tried hot water but I just got lots of hot water in my ear because I kept flinching.  Then I tried cold water to the same effect.

FYI- acetone in nail polish remover works like a charm.  But be VERY careful not to get it in your eyes are you'll have a hard time racking focus...

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

Wow, that's not so much a good story as it is very painful to imagine.

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

;D It was funny though. My buddies couldn't stop laughing and they just came up with stupid ideas that compounded the situation. ;D

Hey it's fun watching friends get hurt.

But you know what they say: a good friend will come and bail you out of jail but your best friend will be sitting in the cell with you laughing, saying, 'damn, that was fun!'

Re: Camera auto shuts off!!!

Maybe in the next version of the camera, they'll add a slot for a card. Then we could have a stack of cards with presets...as many as we want to make...that we can just pop in as needed.
