cam choice

Hi all.
I'm new into this forum.
I'm going to buy a Panasonic video camera, and I would like to receive a suggestion by someone.
Well, by choice are DVX 100, HVX 200, HMC 151.
What I look for into these 3 cams is film-like footage, and I guess that this is a fixed point.
Then I could buy the DVX (due the less price too, and because right now I'm not HD equipped), but I'm interested in tapeless too.
What's the footage quality of SDHC and P2 cards, respect to MiniDV tapes???
Then, I guess that there are so many difference between these cams, but what do you think?
Could you please give a tip?
Thanx so much! :dankk2:

The footage from P2 is stunning but that is a given since it's shot in DVCPRO HD. I can't attest to the AVCHD footage as I haven't personally seen it from the HMC150 yet but I haven't been a big fan of AVCHD so far. Footage from tape on the DVX is great but is SD and not HD of course.

If I were buying both a camera and computer now and had the money, I'd go with the HVX200. You've got the best of both worlds shooting either to tape or to P2. I'm personally not convinced that the bugs are worked-out with AVCHD just yet. The down side to the HVX is the cost of P2 cards. They are still quite expensive. The HVX weighs the most out of all of them so that "could" be seen as a disadvantage.

For me, I didn't want to do a massive computer upgrade and I don't need to produce anything in HD just yet so I bought a very lightly used DVX100B and I LOVE it. It will handle anything I need to do for at least a couple years.

Bear in mind that this is just my opinion based on what works for me.

Take the time and think carefully about what your needs/wants are and if you're comfortable with the overall cost. If you go HD, you may possibly need a computer and software upgrade.

Don't forget to factor-in other items like lighting, sound, filters, etc. that add to the overall cost as well.

Best of luck! :)

You almost convinced me!
I own a iMac G5 and maybe HD processing is too much for it...
Then my wallet tells me that I have to be careful
Well, I think my choice will be probably the dvx.

Thank you so much for your clarification!

Remember not to spend your whole budget on just the camera, you still need sticks, lights, lenses, etc.

Thanx guys!
I heard that hmc 151 is the substitute of dxv 100... this lets me think.
Greg: I visited you website, really cool. Are the video shooted with dvx 100b?
