Ok, one more thing to ponder before Vegas.... Why do you think they named the camera the HVX? Obviously, the resemblence to the DVX is probably the answer, but how come they didn't put "HD" in the name? I would think all those marketing people at Panasonic would love to have the "HD" somewhere in there. DV-X made sense, why not HDX?

I know it's a boring question, but hey, we need to talk about something for a couple days until we can finally see it...

Any thoughts?
 
HDX is the name of a higher-end 2/3" chip line from Panasonic, starting with the HDX-400. Probably needed to separate out the product lines. HDX would have been cool, but I'm actually surprised it wasn't named the HPX (which is a horrible name, but would be consistent...)

They have SDX (for standard definition "X")
DVX for DV "X"
SPX for standard definition P2 "X"
So why not HPX for high-definition P2 "X"?

In any case, it is what it is, but I think I'll take to calling it the "VariAlta". It's like a cross between a VariCam and a CineAlta already...

How much would it cost for one of the "Vegas Few" to pull off some inside skinny before monday? (I mean camera details people - stay focused!).

I've got an unopened package of 10ft 3/4" GE CableNeat Cable Organization Tubing to the first person with pictures!!!

yes... perhaps after the DVX hour on monday we should head off somewhere to have a drink and decompress after the HVX presentation and realizing that its actually real.

Damn I wish I were there.
I only hope that the lucky ones that are in Vegas don't forget to keep communications up on here, so that those unfortunate few (like me) can live vicariously through you.
