DVXUsers,
Overland Films is in pre-production for our new HD series, One Nation. The show details the lives of ordinary citizens from all over the United States in their natural environments.
Much of the series will consist of interviews and supportive hometown photography, however, our pitch pilot (and subsequent episodes) will require large amounts of stock footage for intercut with each locally produced package.
DVXUser members are invited to submit thumbnail images of your stock footage for consideration within the series. This represents a great chance for fellow members to have their work highlighted (and credited) within a high-definition cable series.
Some technical details:
FORMAT(S) - Clips must be originated in 720 or 1080 formats - SD clips cannot be considered. Timelapse, slow-motion and 24 or 30 frame progressive realtime is desirable.
SHOT LENGTH - Minimum shot duration should be between 15 and 30 seconds.
STYLE GUIDE - Our show is fast-paced, so there is some room for snap-zooms and even some dutch work, however, as a rule, we're generally seeking locked off establishing, steady tilt-down / tilt-up, pan and reveal shots.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - Skylines, rural scenes, monuments (don't get arrested now!) and other landmarks. Limit recognizable faces whenever possible as we aren't yet set up legally for independent contractor release of talent situations. Because DVXUser members live all over the country, we hope that you, as acting "hometown ambassador", will use your skilled eye to capture the inherent and unique beauty of the place you live.
SUBMISSION FORMAT - Find one keyframe that best defines your overall shot and thumbnail it for submission in either .TIF or .JPEG format. For our editors, thumbnails sized for use within the SD proxy environment (approx. 720 x 480) are most desirable. The show will require HDCam masters for broadcast, so 1080i is our forseeable deliverables / archival format.
Absolutely do not submit moving footage unless expressly contacted by Overland Films or our development partners.
COMPENSATION - By submitting your clip thumbnail, you release it for free use during the writing and edit period as a "placeholder image".
Should a submitted thumbnail be selected for use within the show as a moving image, the author will be compensated at $20 - $35 per second* based upon total seconds used (or fractions thereof) within the broadcast edit.
Once a clip has been selected, Overland Films will contact the author directly to arrange duplication and shipping of the materials, fulfillment of contractual obligations and the collection of pertinent screen credit information.
COPYRIGHT INFORMATION - It is our intention to protect the rights of the contributing freelance operators to the fullest extent possible. It is likely, if the series is fully commissioned, that the footage utilized within the broadcast edit will become the property of the network (you may or not be able to subsequently license the same footage to another third-party).
Please use the following email address to submit your thumbnails for consideration: submit@expeditionfilmpartners.com Please include in the subject line the words ONE NATION STOCK
If you have questions or concerns of any kind, do not hesitate to contact me directly: eolson@expeditionfilmpartners.com
Thank you for your participation in our latest project, I hope that the talents of DVXUser cinematographers will play a significant role in this showcase endeavor.
