Scott Billup's book on digital moviemaking refers to "aligning" a digital camera with a waveform monitor. For whatever reason, I''m not getting it. Can someone help me out with this. What function does this achieve and does the DVX need aligning?
There is nothing to allign in a digital cam. If you are used to interperet waveform signals you could optimise exposure settings (compression/clipping) and color saturation if you have specific test cards and controlled ambient. And remember you then only verify the analog (NTSC) output which is not allways significant for what the digital output contains.
