FS7: Calibrating FS7M2 Viewfinder and Gratical Eye

So I'm using both the stock viewfinder and the Gratical Eye on my new camera. The stock viewfinder is mounted behind the top handle.

Does anyone have any great tips on calibrating these two viewfinders so that they faithfully reproduce color and exposure AND match each other?

I would love to have some tips on how to do this.

Also, on the Sony viewfinder, do you have the ability to adjust settings beyond contrast and brightness? That doesn't seem like enough. Perhaps something is buried in a hidden menu.

Me too, nice flexible setup eh?

Basically I think you have two choices: 1) to set your FS7 to display colour bars, and calibrate your Eye to match the LCD as closely as possible, or; 2) to calibrate your Eye as closely as possible to your eventual rushes, and just learn the translation to the native LCD. Both systems have disadvantages, but given my observation below, I don't think you can expect to have both displayed properly calibrated AND matching. Bit of a PITA, but definitely workable. I chose approach 2) above, as I only really use the rear LCD as a framing guide whilst doing handheld walking shots off-the-shoulder, or on focus-mag during an interview on sticks, so I prefer to know that the eye is calibrated as perfectly as possible, and disregard matching.

Nope, I don't think you do, which is why the route above is the only real option in can see.

Hope that helps,

jason

I have the same setup. I judge exposure etc by looking at the viewfinder and only use the LCD either to see all the on screen info while feeding the vf clean video from SDI 1 and magnified on eyeballs during interviews. I don't think you can calibrate them to match.
