I was interested in looking at the hyperfocal distance and depth of field values for my hmc150 but was unable to find any published tables or other information. The values are pretty easy to calculate. All the necessary parameters (lens focal length, f-stop and, for depth of field, focus distance) are available on the LCD screen. The only missing number for the calculation is the CC (circle of confusion).
An old rule-of-thumb for CC was the focal length (presumably for a "normal lens") divided by 1000. For 35mm still photography (film), the CCs used by Nikon and Canon were closer to "normal lens" focal length divided by 1750 (i.e., between 0.025 mm and 0.03 mm). I have an old book with tables for 16mm film (physical frame size closer to that of the hmc150). The author used a CC of 0.025mm. Does Panasonic recommend a specific value for CC? If so, does anyone know what it is? Alternatively, does anyone have a good rationale for the value to use?
On a related topic, does anyone know the actual physical size (height, width, or diagonal) of the hmc150 image sensor?
Thanks for any information you can provide.
