Cake! is a skateboarding film from the small town of Hickory, NC, USA.
Two years of frustration and fun went into the production of “Cake!”. The fun aspect really came through in the final product. My goal for the film was to use it to give skateboarding a definition, to form an explanation in the one’s mind who couldn’t fathom why flipping a piece of wood around with your feet, sliding across objects intended for such disparate uses would give someone pleasure. The person who couldn’t understand it, therefore fearing it, and hiding that fear by masking it as hate. Maybe, just maybe this silly little skateboarding video will change the world. Curing life-threatening diseases, ending starvation- - OK, maybe not.
But you should watch “Cake!”, anyway. It’s a fun video.
