GH2 Cage thread?

What happened to the thread with the guy who was going to sell a GH2 cage via kickstarter? Did Rewo get it taken down?

I had the original CPM cage for a while before I sold it. It was OK. Very light but liable to 'cracking' if you over crank the knobs as the cage base and top are plastic after all.

Thanks for the info. Really appreciate it. Do you have a recommendation for a metal/more sturdy option? Honestly I'm just looking for something that could help get the weight up to the 4.6lbs requirement for the Vinten Vision Blue tripod. Only things I could see using it for would be maybe a follow focus and some top/side handles.

Maybe Forum Admin is mediating between them - is it a direct copy or not.

I haven't been able to find it on Kickstarter ever-since the thread started.

The Shrigg Jig cage? There are also a few in development by members. Also some cheap ones now by Chinese sellers on feeBay

I was also wondering what happened to the cage thread. It all seemed so childish anyway. It is not like you can make too many differences in a cage for the same camera. I mean most of the port holes do have to be in the same place. Not to mention it is being constructed out of a different material and aimed at a different market than the Rewo (which is a sexy cage but very expensive).

I'm thinking of grabbing the Shrigg Jig cage as it is simple and cheap which is what I am looking for. What I am finding hard is clear feedback from users of the Shrigg Jig besides those who strike me as people who would complain about anything (and usually complain the loudest).

SHrigjeg is good. I barrowed it for 2 week when I'm visit there in Rio Toturga. Makes the baby vibrators disappears. smoth from then on.

NO REWO didnt win anything DVX took it down but the cage has been on sale for some time now it is right here http://www.indiegogo.com/PW-Cage-1

and it has been on the front of the GH2 threads for days here http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?266696-The-PW-Cage-is-HERE

Who holds the money?, you or a third party?

If it's you, don't you think that sending you $261 (£162) for a product that has yet to be produced requires a little too much faith in these turbulent economic times?

I'm sure your intentions are fine - but circumstances change, unforseen events occur, and £12,500 dollars is quite a lot of money.....

Me?, I rang up a very nice chap in Iowa, sent him some money via Paypal, and he has duly handed over a Shrig cage to Fedex, whose tracking info tells me it will be delivered in the UK by Tuesday.

Perhaps the Shrig isn't as nice as your own offering (although I would venture to suggest that the number and position of the mounting holes makes it more useful) - and it does have the benefit of actually existing, and will be with me shortly.

A bird in the hand......as the old proverb notes

the money is help in escrow until the minimum is made... I cant touch anything untilo then, and if it doesnt then it ALL is returned... if anyone would like to talk to the CAD designer or the company that is READY to make these in orlando, they are Cost Cast LLC... and I can provide any amount of emails from them... also FLanodizing will be doing the anodizing

the Shrig Jig is GREAT i have nothing against it besides the looks of it... like I have said before on personal-view... I work with some very highend clients, and I like my gear to look just as sexy as it performs

The Shrigg cage is cheap - and that's important, particularly as the whole DSLR video thing could turn out to be something of a fad.

It also looks very easy to modify and customise - and, frankly, I'm sexy enough without encouraging more attention with a flash cage :cheesy:

Your cage does look nice - no doubt about it, really nice. Perhaps a little bit *too* nice? - when all is said and done, these things are just lumps of metal that have to do a job, they will end up getting scratched and bashed.

I remember a TV documentary on the London papparazi - they spend their lives chasing celebrities around, using high-end cameras and lenses. However, the way they treat their gear was a revelation! - £5,000+ lenses stuffed into plastic bags and casually tossed into vehicles. Most of their stuff looked as though they'd been reporting from a war zone!

Of course, they were all after the money shot - and could doubtless afford to have their lenses recalibrated every week or so, and buy another one when they finally broke it. To them, an expensive lens was just a tool - not really any different to a bricklayer's trowel, or a road mender's pickaxe.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll be happy with my crude Shrigg - and I wish you a sucessful outcome and many satisfied customers.

The Shrigg cage is great. I'm not too happy with the rods from them though.

My Shrigg cage has arrived from Tim Ovel - who is, incidentally, one of the nicest people with whom you could wish to deal.

I'd advise anyone thinking of the Shrigg for the GH1/2 to go for the 'XL' version (same price) The extra height allows for the fitting of a QR assembly inside the cage (Manfotto 323, in my case) and is certainly not too big for the camera, imo.

I'm delighted with mine - so thanks to Shrigg, and also to Tim Ovel of Indiesystems.

Could you please be so kind as to post a photo? I am thinking of ordering the Shrigg Jig for my GH2 but sometimes have gigs shooting with 7D or 5D so it would be handy to have the larger one. Of course it all depends how the GH2 sits in it as its my primary personal camera.

I'm thinking the extra width might help the cage to act like handles when holding it.
