Cable edit

Lucky Duck
So as I posted over in the News area, my local cable station picked up the Water's Edge. I couldn't use the first part of it because I didn't have the rights to the music so I did some re-edits on the 2nd part and created a new intro. I also had to remove my cinemascope matte (bummer) because most people will be viewing it on a 4x3 TV....still looks pretty good although I did frame some shots specifically for the matte...

The channel will run this film twice daily starting next week. Most of you have seen this but the intro is new and there's a couple of new shots in there.

I'm on the fence about the cloud timelapse. The intention here was to go from gray sky to blue sky to bridge the scenes. I had to reverse the timelapse for that to happen so I'm not sure if that's distracting or if the average viewer is going to even notice it...

Re: Cable edit

Okay people, bear with me here...I'm trying to fix some technical issues....the file is currently offline but just for about 10 minutes. If someone can actually view it, let me know, so I can narrow it down to Hudson's computer...  :)

EDIT: Back on line...I'm re-encoding it also and will upload again later. In the meantime, can someone that has successfully downloaded and played the file let me know?

Re: Cable edit

disjecta,

I just viewed it, the intro is killer! A fine piece of art! Just imagine how good it would have been if you would have used an XL2 :P

Doh!

Re: Cable edit

Very nice. The shot that was moving to the left, down low with the ducks in frame reminded me of some war movie. Like a calm before the storm.

Re: Cable edit

Sigh

Everytime I watch your work I go into a trance. The choice of music, the comps, the subject matter. Supercool work. Your crane work is so cinematic! The moving camera is so key. Nice! Bravo!

Re: Cable edit

Thanks John,

Actually there were no crane shots in this. All of the rising shots were just done on a tripod tilting upwards very slowly. I also used tracking and a dolly for some of the shots...but no crane in this one.

Re: Cable edit

Agggh :P

You know I thought Dolly/Tracking but for some reaosn I remembered another one you did where you said you used only a crane, so I assumed.

Of course, the dolly shots are obvious. :P

Re: Cable edit

Yeah, the first Water's Edge had a bunch of crane shots in it. Anyway, thanks for the comments.

Re: Cable edit

You amaze me with every new work you post. Brilliant camerawork, brilliant colour correction, brilliant editing, brilliant composition, anyway, I loved it all.

Did you do the timelapse in-camera? That was brilliant too.

All the best

Fidel.

Re: Cable edit

Added a short voiceover narrative (my voice) as a set up (will need to redo)...the The shot of me at the end was not framed properly (the hazards of solo work) so I'm going to reshoot that. This setup also shows a picture of me out on the lake in action with "big hoss"....that's what my wife calls the DVX when it's kitted out with 2 teleconverters and the matte box   :D
