C30WR Viewfinder Eyecup and Lens Barrel

Hi All,

As you all know I've acquired my own F35 with the C30WR viewfinder awhile ago from Alan Gordon. Everything went smoothly except the viewfinder eyecup seemed a little weird. Basically it blocks parts of the image on the LCD so I have to move my eye around to a lot to see the whole image. Didn't give it much thought until a few days ago when I ran into a C30WR image on the Internet and the eyecup looks nothing like what we have. I thought it was my eyes (I'm very short-sighted) because when I try to refocus the viewfinder lens I could see the whole screen, but it gets blurry. The actual eyecup on the C30WR seems to have a much wider opening.

Now it's nothing sort of a dealbreaker but once we start shooting it became a pain. All other cam ops complained about it. So I decided to order the original eyecup from Sony, well, of course it's backordered and the price seemed fit for the F35.

I looked around and found out that C30W actually has the identical looking eyecup and it's in stock and 1/2 the price, straight from Sony. Now can someone please confirm if the eyecup is interchangeable between the two models? It should work in theory but I'm not that well versed with Sony equipment.

This is what I got from Alan Gordon. While it's nice and all and has this auto sun shutter thing xD, it doesn't work.

I think it should look like this, this is how I'm familiar with it:

Any pointers would be deeply appreciated :)

Thanks!

I have that same eyecup, I prefer it actually. Im 99% sure you can just swap it out, I would contact abel cine though and check, they may even have some there.

What is the difference between C30W and C30WR viewfinders?

You mind saying how much the eyecup cost?

The c30WR was an updated version, had some better boards in it apparently and also was a little less likely to be killed by the sun.

Correct.

From memory basically all Sony eyecups are interchangeable - more or less. The C30 and C30WR I'm damn sure are.

No. The LUTS aren't generated in the VF - but some VFs have buttons that toggle settings on/off. Without said button, you can still use other assignable buttons on the camera body or the menu settings.

I know viewfinder don't generate the LUT.
I meant to ask no LUT toggle with C30W. But if can with assignable buttons no biggie then.
