So, you didn’t get to NAB and see all the new stuff….well, on Wednesday and Thursday, May 13 & 14th, EVS will have both the C300 Mark II and the EOS XC-10 on display for you to see, touch, and check out. We’ll have our key Canon Tech rep here both days from 10-3 to answer your questions and we’ll have them up on monitors so you can see the incredible 4K images these new cameras can produce. So, make the time and be the first in LA to get your hands on these revolutionary new cameras here at EVS.

Jim, I will be working that day, could you please determine the base ISO of the XC10, and how much boost is usable in both HD and in 4K. Is the HID a downsized 4K with less noise?

Also, can you confirm, or disprove, rumors that the XC10 hot shoe is smart, and that there is the possibility of third party XLR adapters?

Can you please find out if you can shoot HD on the CFAST 2.0 card? Right now, it seems like you shoot 4K on CFAST and HD on the SD card.

Cfast is for 4K, SD for 1080 and stills.....as of the latest info we have from Canon...and I don't expect it to change

that's cool you're hosting the event so people can come and check out the cameras. any chance EVS will post some test footage of the xc-10?

You can record 1080 onto a CFAST 2.0 card with the BM URSA...I hope Canon doesn't separate recording based on resolution!

So 12 bit 1080p 4:4:4 is recorded only to an SD card with no option for dual recorded 1080? From the literature it made it sound like the SD was only for the lower bit rate "proxy" 1080p codecs.

I'm going to triple check with the Canon tech rep on this....the spec sheet I'm looking at says in the spec section that "Cfast - 4K recording" and "SD card - HD video and stills"......all using the new XF-AVC codec.

Yea, I don't know where this "proxy" came from, but who knows anymore
basically, the idea is that you record your main footage at the highest codec (in this case 4K on Cfast) but you could record a 1080 proxy, or backup, on the SD card......

Yeah, except that I'd guess a large percentage of shoots and users are going to record the "proxy" 1080p as their A-footage. 4K is at rather high data rates for a doc and event camera.

Also, on another forum they quote Canon as saying that the XC10 has built in profiles to emulate Alexa, RED, Sony, etc. I thought this was a C300 MKii feature. Did it leak into the XC10?
