some strange finding:

"One more thing I’d like to mention is that strip of light that is visible on the Canon C300 Mark II recording. In the very dark areas you can see a faint horizontal strip across the image coming from the opverexposed fields on the left. I have no explanation for that phenomenon."

Despite this phenomenon Cinema5D comes to the conclusion that "the image of the C300 Mark II is more neutral and the noise is less saturated and mushy in comparison to the Sony FS7."

what??

Odd isn't it?

Looks like old CCD smear in the other direction.

I'm always a little sceptical of these reviews because i don't know their workflow.

I just don't see much movement in sensor tech these days, i mentioned that on another thread. They're all pretty much the same. We know that the Alexa denoises in RAW, that probably explains the more controlled noise. Arri knows their colour science too.

Ideally you should take the RAW from all these cameras, process them the best you can and then compare. And that includes denoising as well.

cheers

It looks to me like the stops are there. It's just that the Alexa has more by the same measure and is more conservative in stating their spec. Cinema5D also comes to the conclusion the FS7 image is more detailed.
