I have this little setup and was wondering how you rig to get around the problem of monitor noise.
My setup is a C100, Flame monitor, Sound Devices mixer, ECM 674 plus the usual cables, shock mounts etc... For self-shooting am currently feeding the mic to the mixer to the monitor and discovered the Flame is annoyingly noisy. On a tripod I can just shoot the Flame out to the the left of the C100, attaching it to the tripod using a magic arm while putting the mixer on top of the camera which looks a little weird but it works. Because of the supercardiod pattern, I get no monitor noise and the results are good.
However, if I want to go handheld onto a shoulder mount, I have a major issue. I can't rig the monitor anywhere because the mic pattern means I end up with monitor noise unless there is some kind of rig which allows me to take the monitor away from the mic / body of the camera, maybe way out to the left.
How do you get around this issue (and bear in mind lavs are impossible in this environment as I need to move around and there is lots of randomness)? Is there some kind of rig which allows me to throw stuff out to the left of the camera or even just a quieter monitor? What are your solutions?
Thanks in advance...
