c- stands

Does anyone know if the legs on c-stands can be folded up for easy transport or do they just stick out permanently?

They swing around so you can put them all in the same direction for storage and transport.

If you want something ever more compact for transport get C+ stands with turtle bases.

I just carry an allen wrench to remove the legs & put it all into a hard golf-club case. I never remove the screws completly so as not to loose them. Takes less than 5 min to remove them.

Amvona has a nice c-stand where everything is tool-less when it comes to taking them apart. And the bases are spring loaded.

EDIT: I don't see c-stands on their site anymore. i bought mine from them through ebay so they may still be available.

try impact stands at bh photo - about 130 with grip arm and head - and the legs collapse and come off with a twist of a know - they are cheap but well built - I dont know why all of them are not made like this

Yeah, it depends on the stand, yes the legs all fold into one direction for storage on Rocky Mountain C stands and most others.
