Hi folks,
Ive been using my Rode Videomic with my HMC for a couple of months and it works great. I had to shoot a presenter interviewing some people recently and instead used a normal XLR mic via XLR cable but I found that there was hum and buzz evident in the recording. I changed mics and cables but the same thing was present, it would get worse depending on how the cable was coiled, how high it was held etc which I thought was very strange since the whole point of XLR was if there was interference since it was wired inversly inside it should cancel out?
I didnt have phantom power turned on by accident or anything and as noted connected to my Rode Videomic via the little Rode XLR to 3.5mm adapter all is sweet, no noise at all.
Anyone got any thoughts - have I made a school boy error somewhere?
Many thanks,
R.
