Buying used AF100, is software updated?

I am currently in the market for a used AF100. I have been looking at them on ebay and on the dvxuser marketplace. I finally found a camera that I am interested in purchasing, but I would like to know if it has the $250 software update that allows shooting 60 fps in 1080. I asked the seller if he had it updated and all he said was it's firmware version is 1.12-00-0.00. I've searched the web and can't figure out if that means it is updated or it is not updated. To anybody who has updated their AF100, what is the firmware number after the update?
Also I would like to know if you bought a brand new AF100 after this update came out, do you still need to purchase this update? Or does it ship with the software already updated since the release of the update? And if so when did they start selling the camera with the update?

AFAIK, the camera must be at firmware version 1.23 to apply the PS-mode patch (1080p60). Just because a camera may be at firmware version 1.23 doesn't necessarily mean it's 60p capable; the only way to be certain is by checking the available frame rates in the scene file.

Does anybody know where to order this update other than b&h? They say it will take 2-4 weeks to ship and I don't want to wait that long. I can't find anything on panasonic's web site about it.

Yes, call other dealers. I think Full Compass said they had some in stock? But call around to the usual suspects, especially the DVXUser sponsors like Spec-Comm and Abel... the product has been on the market for a while, certainly someone will have it in stock somewhere!

Can you give me an example of why a camera would not be 60p capable if it was updated to 1.23 firmware?

Thank you for the suggestions Barry. I was able to find it on Full Compass, but it also says 3-4 weeks to ship.

The firmware update to 1.23 is free. The patch for the 60p upgrade is an option that needs to be purchased. The patch can only be installed if the firmware is at 1.23.

Okay thanks dwiener, now I understand. I've had a very hard time finding information about this. I can only find a few places that are selling the update. The only thing I could find on panasonic's web site was a form to redeem an activation code to download the update, but I can't find anything about how to purchase an activation code. I guess I will have to give panasonic a call because I don't want to wait the 2-4 weeks for it to ship from b&h or full compass. Nobody seems to have it in stock. Here is the form on panny's site...

It says to "retrieve activation code on this web site" but I have searched and found nothing. You would think they would provide a link.

If you have updated your af100, can you please share how you purchased the update? Thanks!

I'm currently still at 1.17 on my AF-100. Haven't installed 1.23 yet as I don't need the 60p.
