buying last years macbook pro question

because of the release of the new 15inch macbook pros, I can get the old ones for super cheap. the question i have is whether to get the

2.4 ghz with 2 gigs of ram and 256mb graphics

or the

2.6 ghz with 4 gigs or ram and 512mb graphics.

is the upgrade worth the $300 extra dollars? I'm going to be editing footage from an hmc-150 for small independent shorts. I know i should have 4 gigs and could potentially add 2 more after market.

yes its absolutely worth the extra 300 bucks. HUGE bump in performance. and I think the 2.6 (if it's the same one I have) comes with a 200gb 7200RPM drive vs. a 5400RPM drive, which speeds things up significantly.

Absolutely go for it. I'm VERY happy with my 2.6ghz MacBook pro (4gb RAM and I upgraded it to a 320gb 7200rpm drive.)

Enjoy!

Have to disagree.

7200 rpm versus 5400 rpm on a boot/system drive doesn't speed anything up "significantly."

Processor performance increases are marginal from going 2.4 to 2.6.

The one thing that may help is the better video card for Motion of FXPlugs.

I would suggest that slower processor with more RAM and a EC/34 card for FW or eSATA.
