Buying in Dubai

Hello Everyone

I just joined the Forum after reading it for about a month, im in dubai and im looking for some advice about buying the new HVX200E the pal version. Was wondering if anyone knew the date of release and wether i shuld buy local or over the net, i noticed one website could ship to Dubai for about 190 us dollars, the place is called globalmediapro.com

Anyhoo its been great finding out about this camera here, and im confident that Id like to purchase this cam, so any advice on prices and locations, sites etc to purchase would be very helpfull.

What I would like: HVX200E + 1x 4gb P2 card, + battery etc that comes in the box. i would love 2 4gig cards but may just wait for firestore because of the silly price of the P2's

You should be able to get it for a good price in Dubai -- that's where many people from Europe and Asia buy high-end electronics for discount prices.
 
You're probably closer to Singapore :) . I'm in Russia and many people here go to Dubai just to buy big-ticket items. I have a friend there now getting a dozen Yamaha dirtbikes. As far as I know, Dubai is tax and duty free, and is used as a hub for traders.

Unfortunately the camera you get there might be gray-market -- but in Russia everything is gray market so it's doesn't really matter.

talking about Dubai, its a place i'm very eager to visit. It looks incredible on the Earth TV programme, with a beautiful seashore and spectacular hotels.

Well as far as discount prices go, dont be fooled. The guys that sell these items over here know the US dollar prices off by heart and as far as tax free goes, true it is, but u wouldnt notice realy. mabe im just a sceptic but it used to be good to buy electronics here, but now im not so sure.

And as far as seeing Dubai on tv. It will always look good on tv *wink wink, shows u the censorship avoidance papers* but i didnt say that ok ;)

Guys if you help me get a good deal on this camera Il show you Dubai on the forum i promise, as far as i can tell, the guy at the recent media equipment show here told me the HVX would cost 20,000dhs give or take a few hundred. He was a bit clueless, so i decided to leave my student party and get my hands on look at the HVX. And oooh yes, :), a big 40inch plasma displaying my in hands with 4 gig P2 store PAL HVX, this was no pre production, was the real deal, the quality was amazing, i was previously looking to get the DVX100BE, but jeeze this one is just too superior to not buy.

As for people comming over here to buy items like this, id like to know who they buy from, or if its the rather, well confused panasonic dealers.

id like to buy this thing as soon as possible.
