Buying HVXs for camp video department

I'm looking to purchase 3-4 HVXs for a summer camp. We just received a large donation and we want to advance the video department far beyond where it currently stands.

I ran across this and it looks like a great deal:

However, I've been screwed by companies in the past. Has anyone bought from broadway? Are they reputable? Better yet, does anyone know of some better deals?

And I'm looking for cheaply priced P2 cards. Any suggestions?
When do the 16GB come out? If soon then I'll probably buy multiple 8GB.

thanks everybody.

cheers,
-Justin

Hello Justin,

There is a sticky that has a list of Authorized Dealers on this site and Broadway isn't one of them. I would recommend purchasing from one of the dealers that are sponsering this site. I'm going to drop you a PM to discuss some of our deals that are going on right now.

Only buy Panasonic authorized USA.

Go to the company's web site, punch in your zip code, and you'll find available dealers near you.

Broadway is among the worst: Lifetime Rating: 0.80 / 10

2nd and 3rd the advice here. Buy from an Authorized dealer. Save yourself the headache. As Spec-Comm mentioned above, there are several authorized dealers who frequent our site, many of which also support this site.

I bought around 13k in stuff from Spec-Comm back in October, and couldn't have been happier with the whole process.

I hate to be the only one.. But I got my camera from them (BROADWAY VIDEO).. It doesn't come with a US warranty, but everything else was 100% legit..

They are a bit shady on the phone, but I couldn't afford to buy it from anyone but them..

I purchased a 4 year warranty from MACK (through B&H) and have the same coverage as anyone else.. Panasonic still supports me, and will provide tech support over the phone, you just cant send it to them for repair.

PM me if you want info on HOW to deal with them on the phone..

LASTLY, if you have the $$, buy from an authorized dealer to avoid ANY problems.

ALSO, this camera is not just a POINT and shoot, so be you might want to reconsider getting a less complex camera for a summer camp?

Good point, it would be a waste of money (and a HVX200) to use this cam as a point and shoot video camera.

They have a "Video Department", I think a point and shoot camera might feel a bit short... Don't need a video depatment for that... I think HVX is a great choice if you have the funds...

You HAVE to tell us the experience.

It would be priceless.

I bought a brand new dvx100b off ebay august of last year with no problems, and plan to do buy a new HVX200 off ebay in a month or so.
As long as you know what your doing and who to trust, ebay can be your friend.

RE: Ebay - I agree. Bought my HVX from Studio Exchange in CA. via an Ebay Buy it Now, got US warranty and free 8 gig offered at the time, and all was well for $4995. When looking at cams on Ebay, dig into their feedback and make sure the individual feedback ratings are for $5000 cameras and not for buying or selling a $5 CD. There are many scams on Ebay too, you just have to weed those out.
