hey. i didnt search for a thread like this. so if you want to redirect me go ahead.

I'm talking to a guy about a dvx100p for a good price. now the thing is it has almost 300 hours on it but I'm getting a fewa fisheye too. And i have really wanted a dvx the past year.

1. Now what is the difference between a dvx100b (new) and dvx100p (used)?

2. Will i regret the difference(cause i film a lot snowboarding)?

3. Is it a good idea to buy one used with 300 hours on it?

Thanks for the help

based on what ive read here ur gonna want to look on a few things like
1. what kinda tapes were used in it
2. was it used for capturing
3. and jus the overall treatment of the camera (conditions under which it was used)

1. http://www.dvxuser.com/articles/100b/

2. Many film companies used to dvx for snowboarding including mackdawg and all the top names, but now have moved up to the hvx and hd cams for filming now. and i personally use it to film snowboarding and plan to move up to an hd panasonic withint he next year because of their reliability.

3. The dvx is rated somewhere around 2000 hours so 300 is not very much in comparison and will probably be cheaper then if you bought one with 50 hours, but it also depends was it 300 hours filming on a beach or 300 hours in a studio. The difference with how the camera was used would be more to worry about then the number of hourse it was.

and one thing the dvx100b does NOT have is time lapse recording but the 100a and 100p both have it

Do a search in the Marketplace on this board. You'll get a good idea as to what these cameras go for used.

You might also want to take a look for used HVX200. I have a DVX100B but if I were looking today, I'd definitely be looking at either the HVX200 or the HPX170.

I'm also very interested in the Scarlett but that is tentatively due out in 2009.

Good luck.
