Buying a DVX100B in China (AG-DVX180B)

I posted a question a while back about buying a DVX100B in China to see if anyone knew anything about it, to see if I should buy in the US before arriving or buy here.

Well, I waited until I got here and am damn happy i did. With translation help from my girlfriend, I bought the Chinese market equivalent, marked here as the AG-DVX180, from a Panasonic authorized distributor for roughly 2450 USD, (19,500 RMB) all in.

Walking in with cash, they opened up the box for me, everything that should be included was inside and good to go, and it's working beautifully.

I'm sure its warranty is for China, but as I'll be in Asia full-time I'm not worried.

If anyone wants the contact details for the shop in Shanghai let me know.

Cheers!

Good to hear that your experience was good!

I have been in Shanghai for over 1 year and spend time between there and Singapore. A friend of mine bought a Canon 350D kit and also had a great experience.

People should hopefully realise that there are as many benefits from buying in China even with the language barriers.

I think it would be great if you let us know which store you used and personally as a DVX100 user I would like to know for ref.

Good Luck with your new baby!!

David

sure thing >>

Shanghai Changjiang Electronic Equipment Co., Ltd.

1740 Beijing Rd. (W), Shanghai, 200040

tel: +86 21 6215 3584 or +86 21 6248 8942

>> for anyone's reference, I think they're a distributor for all level of professional gear, but there isn't anything on display in the shop, though I saw all manner and shape of high end stuff stacked for shipment. The place is very small and unimpressive but they seem to be a dedicated distributor of professional level gear.

>> also I forgot to mention that it came with a Chinese only instruction manual, but I found the English version online so no prob.

wow you're in Shanghai? cool,,, I've only been here a few weeks now, though I lived here for a few months a couple of years ago. Am loving the place again!

as I mentioned, this store was spartan, do you know another good shop for high end video with bags, high quality tripods and whatnot? the consumer focused shops at Xujiahui and People's Square don't have much,,

cheers and I'll see you around!

Glad to hear you are enjoying!

Yes there is a place you should check out - it is just opp. shanghai station and it is in a department store. Downstairs you will see it is basically selling foodstuffs (chinese) and if you walk into the middle there is a set of escalators.
You take them up to the 3rd or 4th floor and there are alot of lighting and accessories shops - tripods, reflectors, chargers, lenses, bags etc.

Unfortunately I do not remember the name of the store but if you have any trouble I can find out for you - just pm me.

Anyhow - feel free to keep in touch and maybe send me your contact details via pm since I will be back around Nov(freezing cold I know) but no choice.

What kind of work are you using the dvx for?

Cheers,

David
