Buying a DVX, advice needed

Looking at buying a dvx100a, looking for the best deal possible. Found a website that was selling it for 2500, new in box, factory warranty, us model, all factory accessories included [battery, charger, eyecup, cables, etc]. Called to confirm that all of these specics are correct and the salesperson assured me that they were. Too good to be true or I just a good bargan? Anyone had success, failures dealing with internet companies that are not big time? I'm a little leary about droppin that much cash just to get screwed, so any personal experience advice would help. Thanks!

PCandPlasma is garbage. Do not waste your time on the phone with them or give them your credit card #.

Before I found this site, I spent 10 days jerking off on the phone with those guys. They might sell you the camera for $2500 if you buy $2500 of accessories from them -- I never found out.

The authorized dealers are the only way to go. Willoughby's was the cheapest place I found.

Re: Buying a DVX, advice needed

here you go bud
I'm glad u asked this before kissing your money goodbye.
don't mess with those lil' whole in the wall scamers

send this guy an emailrush@evsonline.com
tell him you're a DVXUser member (xtra discount) you're outside of Cali so you won't pay taxes, that equals= sweet deal
they stand behind what they sell, they're an US Authorized, reputable, Panasonic dealer

you'll get a DVX with US warranty
the Magic bullet software
Barry's book+DVD
and a $300 check from Panasonic

is  that sweet or what :D :D

now if u buy from PCSCAMPLASMA  you'll get a taiwanesse camera, with no soft, no US warranty, no book , no rebate check, and a huge bill :'(

so call 1 800 238-8480 ask for RUSH
tell him to give u a good deal, you're a DVXUser.com member
and tell him Unix sent ya.

regards

Re: Buying a DVX, advice needed

Thanks for the info. I read a lot from the posted forum. Looks like if the camera comes with Magic Bullet and The DVX book, then it will have the US warranty, and only the authorized dealers will be able to offer this, [or resellers getting their product from authorized dealers under the table], in which case you are still covered. Currently, buydig.com [which got mixed reviews from the forum] is offering the same package as authorized dealers with the software and the book. I haven't heard back from Rush yet with his pricing, but so far buydig comes in around $2800 after rebate and looks to be the best deal, if they are actually selling US models. Anyone have recent experience [past few months] with these guys?

Re: Buying a DVX, advice needed

SloMocean,
EVS is a genuine dealer, NOT a box house. The confidence and service you get from them is worth far more than the few bucks you might save elsewhere. Take Unix's advice and call Rush.

Yeah, I've sent him an email and I won't make any decisions until I've been in contact with him.

this link was also on digbuy website with the camera

http://www.beachtr.com/rebates/PanasonicAGDVX100A-300_043005.pdf

legit rebate or bunk?

Question about the rebate - do you have to already own a dvx100 and then by a dvx100a in order to get the rebate, or is it for all purchases of the dvx100a, even if it is your first? If you do have to own an older dvx, do you have to be the original buyer, or can you ungrade from a camera you bought used?

Re: Buying a DVX, advice needed

It's for any new DVX100A bought during the rebate period, unrelated to whether you had a DVX before that or not.

Re: Buying a DVX, advice needed

Slomocean, sorry I was sick at home (still am), but you should have received the email by now. ;D

Re: Buying a DVX, advice needed

It wasn't the "blue-flu" was it, Rush? ;D I'd hate to think you would call in sick just so you could get some extra footage.

SloMocean

Go with RUSH; you will be treated good; you ask, yet you still ponder Buydig...

Sigh...

Re: Buying a DVX, advice needed

Go with Rush 4 Sure!!

He will insist you buy him dinner and a movie... It's ok to decline [I found this out AFTER unfortunately]

Re: Buying a DVX, advice needed

No more contemplating, Rush it is. 'Cept I've tried calling him the past two days and he's been out and didn't receive his email. Will try today. maybe the girl with the hot voice will answer again... ;)
