Buy a new camera or wait?

I'd consider myself having a pretty extensive knowledge regarding the current market of VDSLR's, yet I cannot decide at the moment.

- I want 1080 60p. One investment, one camera. No-gig commercial stuff, low-budget cinema is my game.

- Tired of low-res DSLR's (Canon/Nikon)

What's my options? Where the heck is Sony a77, thought it would be out long ago? Is NEX5-N worth the trouble? Any video improvements on the new, more expensive NEX model? Resolution seems to be between "real" 1080p and Canon DSLR, so I'm fine with that. I can't seem to buy it in Sweden without a freakin' stock lens.

How long into 2012 before we get the new, video improved Canon DSLR's? Jan-Feb-Mars-something soon enough to be called soon?

I'd love a cheap Rebel that is rolling-shutter free & proper 1080p, but yet, it won't do 60p for sure, since 1Dx won't either.

5N:
* it is a really nice camera, check out very happy users here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/forumdisplay.php?110-Sony-Cameras
* biggest problem with that one: it overheats like crazy (I haven't used it, but that's what they say)
* second biggest: it's not a world camera; if you buy it in PAL land it will have 25p and 50p only, if you buy it in NTSC land it will have 24p and 60p only

NEX-7, A65 and A77:
* they seem to have a lot more noise than the 5N, even after downsampling the higher mpix sensor to 1080p
* plus, I suspect dumb firmware is going to be a huge issue with these ones (like: phase detection autofocus on the SLTs is only available under auto exposure; I wouldn't be surprised if it was so too for in-camera IS); I've totally lost interest on these

Canon 2012:
* there may be a new rebel in 2012Q1, but it's not sure whether it will get rid of rolling shutter issues, aliasing and moire; it seems like sensor readout time is a big part of the problem, so line skipping would probably stay if they stick to the current 18mpix sensor and add digic 5 (which I consider the most likely scenario: it's getting late for them, but I don't think canon would release the new sensor on the rebel)

Cheers. Yeah... they'll probalby not "bake in" the improved video functionality until after 1DX release, and maye have to wait for a semi-pro model for that... Hmmmm. Nerd-nerve tickling... cheapo price for the NEX from hongkong. It will have to do for a while :)

I'm a bit confused. What do you mean exactly by "real 1080p," and "low res DSLRs"?

Canon's video records at 1080p, but it isn't actually resolving that many pixels off the sensor. Its actually line skipping off the 18mpix to resolve somewhere closer to 720 and then up converting. This often results in slightly softer looking video as well as artifacts like moire and aliasing.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. Wasn't aware of that. Well, I was aware of the aliasing and moiré issues, not the fake 1080p.
