Butterfly rigging

I've been using a 6x6 ScrimJim setup for years, often on hi-hi's or beefy babies. Couple of sandbags and you're good.

I'm looking at 12' setups lately - anyone know the industry standard way to rig these, especially with breeze/wind? I'm guessing there's guy lines & stakes involved.

Searched here & googled - of course I found plenty of "I guess I'd try..." - I can guess as good as the next guy - anyone do this for a living? :)

Thanks for any pointers.

Stick them on Hi-Rollers and Lollipops. If they are table topped, you don't need to do too much to tie it down, mostly just sand bags. One thing you might want to do though is tie the frame to the stands so it doesn't catch a little wind and turn upright.

Otherwise tie clove hitches to the frame and then find at least three points to tie it down to. Use trucker hitches to tie it down to whatever you've got. If you don't know how to tie those knots, it's something you can easily google.

Tie them off for sure. In any kind of breeze you should spot a grip on each stand as well. They can jump on and keep control in a gust. Twelve-bys can really get away from you fast.

+1 This is the grip-standard method - right down to the knots he prescribes.
