Busy as a bee

Hi folks,

I've been quiet as of late (I am sure many appreciate that:thumbsup: ). Really busy at my day job, as well as shooting...

Not sure how many of you care, but: I've used the HVX on three short films over the past six weeks, all 720p/24PN, some with slomo, some green screen - everybody loves the image the camera makes. Have another shoot this Saturday, and a continuation of one of the films the weekend after that. It's a blast!

Then in June, I am taking the camera down to DC for a sports-car shoot. There is also this opportunity to go to England and Germany do some shooting during the World Cup - now that would be awesome! I should know later this week...

DVXUSER rules! If it wasn't for this forum, I'd still be 'just dreaming'. Now I am doing it, and having a hell of a good time! And yes - I will post some frames/clips, just need enough time to get around to it.

Thought I would give an update on last Sat shoot.

There is something about it on my blog, so I won't repeat it here. The HVX held up very well. Even with impossible shooting schedule (25 pages in a day!), we never had to wait for camera, even though we only had two 4GB cards. While one was in the camera, the other one was being offloaded to a PC.

Here is some technical info:

  • HVX200 w/two 4GB P2 cards. 720p/24pN. 3200K preset, CINELIKE_V. All interior.
  • Sony VAIO laptop for P2 downloading.
  • 60 GB external HDD as temporary storage.
  • External DVD burner - as soon as the laptop was idle (not offloading a P2), the contents of the card (by now on the ext. HDD) was burned on two DVDs.
  • 'Video tap': S-VIDEO out from the HVX to Canopus ADVC110 converter. DV out of the converter to an ACER TravelMate 8200 laptop running DVRack. Naturally, this was a down-converted SD signal, but good enough for monitoring, checking levels, colors, continuity, and that sort of thing.
I wish the project ran as smoothly organizationally as it did technically.

Good job Jerry. And if you need another HVX shooter for the world cup let me know
I haven't heard anything back from those folks, so I assume it's one of those 'died with a whimper' projects...
