burning my production to a dvd I can watch on my dvd player

Hi all, hope I'm not getting on everyones nerves asking all these questions but I usually just write and direct, this is the first time I've tried to do it all. I want to watch the footage that I've shot so far on my projector through my dvd player but every copy I make will only play on my computer, where am I going wrong and what is the best way to do it and get the best quality picture. This is'nt the final edit, just what I've shot so far...help
 
Your burning to a file such as .avi .mp4 .mov
What you need to do is burn to a DVD file/container such as .vob

You can do this with most video editors, which one are you using?

I prefer to use ConvertXtoDVD, it pawns all dvd burning software.
