Burning In Process: a bad joke?

I did it for a week with different settings. It doesn't work. Everyone who says otherwise should prove it (which is a hard thing to do really). My guess is that someone started a rumour and is now laughing his ass off everytime he reads about it. The ones that do believe in it are probably experiencing a little thing called 'placebo'. I know I'm joining the party a bit late, but anyway...

it's been known to be somewhat selective. The burn-in works for cameras that had *excessive* color banding. It does NOT work for cameras with the *normal* amount of banding. Most people who try it have the *normal* banding, which is still too much, but it's not excessive.

Mine was excessive, even in full daylight and overexposure I had banding. After the burn-in I could use it indoors. Underexposure still shows the bands in the shadows just like everybody else. My friend bought a camera 2 months after me and we compared. His camera, out of the box, looked exactly like mine after burn-in.

Call it a joke or whatever you want. It worked for me. I would have proven it except for the fact that I had deleted everything prior to the burn-in in preparation for returning the whole kit, cards and all because I was so angry over the banding.

I don't see the point in mentioning your friend's camera, sorry. It's very likely that your camera looked the same to begin with.
