Hello all!
I am currently working on an ultra low budget horror feature film titled BURN WARD. The film follows a group of paranormal investigators as they shoot an episode of their bogus ghost hunting TV show "Fear Quest". While investigating an old abandoned hospital, things quickly spiral out of control as the crew realizes the hospital contains a bloody secret, and an evil spirit haunts the corridors.
Currently we are in pre-production. The first draft of the script is complete and a revision is underway. We have our hospital location locked down--we are getting this INCREDIBLE hospital location for free! I will post some pictures of our hospital location scout in my next post.
The film transitions back and forth between POV night vision camera shots in the style of ghost hunting reality TV shows...and standard narrative 3rd Person perspective. We are shooting in HD on 2 Canon XH-A1s with 35mm adaptors.
The film is to be completely fan-funded, meaning we are not looking for investors--only taking donations from fans who want to contribute to the production through IndieGoGo. It's an experiment, but we have high hopes are prepared to shoot the film for practically no money if necessary.
That being said, the film already has DVD/VOD distribution lined up through a DVD company out here in Hollywood. Now that I've said that, I'm sure one of the big million dollar questions that I'm going to get is: "How on Earth did you manage to get distribution on a film with no budget, in a pre-production stage?!?" It's a very good question that I will be sure to answer in a later post.
For now, I will leave you with this small bit of concept art I threw together. This is not actual key art for the film, just a concept that I did myself with my limited Photoshop skills.
STAY TUNED to this thread for updates. I will post location stills so you can take a gander at the hospital we have acquired. I am also hoping to do video blogs as we get closer to production on the film, and discuss the fun trials and tribulations of making a horror feature for no money.
Thank you all!
Alex
